Shim interface for ORC files.

Method Detail

getFilePath

Path getFilePath()

Get the file path of the ORC file.

Returns:

file path

getType

RecordTokenType getType()
                        throws IOException

Get the record type of the ORC file. Note that unsupported ORC types will be ignored with a warning.

Returns:

record type of the ORC file

Throws:

IOException - thrown if an I/O error occurs accessing the ORC file

loadMetadata

FileMetadata loadMetadata()
                          throws IOException

Load the metadata for the given ORC file.

Returns:

metadata of the file

Throws:

IOException - thrown if an I/O error occurs accessing the ORC file

storeMetadata

void storeMetadata(FileMetadata metadata)
                   throws IOException

Store the metadata for the given ORC file. Note this is currently not supported.

Parameters:

metadata - metadata for the file

Throws:

IOException - thrown if an I/O error occurs accessing the ORC file

getReader

RecordReaderShim getReader(long offset,
                         long length,
                         String[] columns,
                         RecordSettable target)
                           throws IOException

Get a reader that can read records from the ORC file.

Parameters:

offset - beginning offset in the file to begin reading (start of split)

length - amount of data to read (size of split)

columns - names of the columns to read (empty = all columns)

target - record target for the data read by the reader

Returns:

a shim over the ORC record reader

Throws:

IOException - thrown if an I/O error occurs accessing the ORC file
